A very simple recipe for making donuts with a result very similar to sweets that are marketed under the same name.
INGREDIENTS (between 12 and 20 donuts, depending on size)
2 tablespoons white vinegar
2 tablespoons of milk
2 tablespoons of lard
Half a glass of white sugar
1 egg
Half a teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 glasses of flour for baking
Half a teaspoon of baking soda
A pinch of salt
Sugar glass
Sunflower or corn oil
First of all let's 'cut' the milk. We add the vinegar to it and wait for it to thicken. We reserve
In a large bowl beat the butter - previously melted in the microwave - with the sugar until there is a soft cream. Add the egg and vanilla mixing thoroughly.
We sift the flour, baking soda and salt and add them. We knead well and stretch the dough on a clean and dry surface to form a sheet 1 cm thick.
We make ourselves with two circular molds, one large and one smaller. The big one will make the external form and the small one the central hole (for example a bowl of soup and a small glass of liquor). We cut the shapes and remove the central hole.
Once we have shaped the donuts we let them rest for 15 minutes.
Pour a lot of oil (at least two fingers deep) in a pan and when it is hot add the donuts, leaving them to fry with a good bubbling until they are golden brown. If necessary, we turn them over (I say necessary in case the bubbling of the oil does not cover the donut well). You will also notice that as a result of bicarbonate the donut will be inflated.
When they are golden, remove from the oil, place on absorbent paper and sprinkle with hot sugar. They can be served hot or left to cool. The result in both cases is spectacular.
