It is not because of what you should eat vegetables, but because it is made with nuts and taking this dried fruit, when the food is fat, it protects our heart. And that of the diners who sit at our table, of course.

There are many recipes for the Waldorf Salad, first served in 1893 at the hotel of the same name that would later become the famous Waldorf-Astoria. This is the most common recipe for what is considered one of the most elegant salads.

INGREDIENTS (4 people):

  • 3 potatoes
  • 1 apple
  • 1 lettuce
  • 2 dozen walnuts
  • 2 ripe red tomatoes
  • 1 cup (200 ml) mayonnaise
  • 1 white truffle
  • 1 tablespoon Worcester Sauce
  • Oil
  • Salt

The potatoes are boiled and when they are soft - but not undone - they are allowed to cool and then cut into sticks as if they were French fries. The same is done with the apple.

In a bowl, add the washed and cut lettuce, the cracked walnuts, the sliced white truffle, the potato and the apple, as well as the peeled and seedless tomato cut into wedges. It is mixed well, it is salted and the whole is seasoned with mayonnaise to which we have added the Worcester sauce.

An extraordinary salad and very easy to make.
